Open Now Rosé

16.5pts …sheer damn-it deliciousness of the wine in the bottle. This is what a rosé should be. It has robust fruit, but it’s not fruity and there are none of the confected flavours that so often plague rosés. Thirst-quenching fresh sweetness of watermelon, the liquorice notes of basil, the nuttiness and dried-oregano fragrance of za’atar, the pop of ripe cherry tomatoes, the salty creaminess of labneh, the tang of sumac, bite of pepper and a tiny hint of pomegranate molasses. Do what it says on the tin: drink now! (…the structure of this wine is good enough that it will last for a couple of years.) (TC)
